Pop Up Trailer Storage: Hanging Pantries and Hanging Storage for Trailers
This is one for the BIGGEST challenges of camping in a pop-up trailer for extended periods of time. We have a large bin that we keep on counter next to sin/stove area. I keep all our canned and dry goods there and the beside it a small microwave. A fruit bowl sits on top of the microwave. Cupboard under sink keep dishes/cleaners/pots/pans, etc. We goo camping up to a month at a time and that seems to work fine for us. What I do find hard it CLOTHING and dirt laundry and where to put it.
Keep in mind we tend to over pack and pack for all kinds of weather- towels are always a hard thing- need somewhere for them to to stay clean and dry. If you have some storage ideas for your pop-up please feel free to share her- by posting in comments or emailing – pics are most welcome- or send a link to your pics/tip.

Starcraft makes a “Soft Storage Compartment ” that is made of canvas and hangs over sink area. This looks like a GREAT idea and cost about 50.00. You can order from any Starcraft dealer. We have Fleetwood- am I am bit nervous about all those holes/hooks in the roof to be honest but I do like the look of it.
Overhead soft storage cupboard – roof mount.

We just purchased our first tent trailer, a 2005 Starcraft 2407. I am a organizational nut and have gone to great measures to perfect storage in the last month. I have been trying to purchase the above hanging storage cupboard to no avail in Canada but will keep looking. I do however have some ideas to share.
We got a clear rubber maid container that I use to put beach towels, dish towels, shower towels ect in. Basically if its something that needs to go in and out of the trailer on each trip it goes in here. When we set up camp I just put it under one of the tent ends.
As we are a family of 5 clothing is an issue too. I purchased a collapsible laundry hamper which fits under the trailers kitchen table perfectly. When we are leaving to go camping I pack all the clean clothes into this hamper. When we arrive at the park and I set up the trailer I have storage bins for each family member. I unpack the clothes into these. I have to do it this way as we don’t have room to fit all the individual bins into our SUV. I got the canvas bins at a great store called solutions. These bins are a decent size, heavy canvas, zipper shut across the top, velco across the front, handles on side, a slot for a information tag (in my case family members names), they collapse down (metal bars fold up to make it a box). They have lots of colors to pick from. $26 each Canadian. I put 3 of the bins across the end of one bunk (kids side) and 2 on the end of the other bunk (ours)At night I just stick ours on the dinnette, the kids are small so I can leave theirs on the bunk. This makes things look neat and tidy which means I can relax alittle! As clothes get dirty it goes into the laundry hamper. When we go home the basket is dragged straight from our truck to the laundry room!
I also purchased 2 plastic shelves with legs at Walmart ($5 each) which I connect together and put on the counter. I put food on the top and middle and pile the dishes under it on the cabinet. The legs pop off and the shelves fold down to nothing for storing. This frees up cupboard space for the bigger boxes of cereal and such.
I purchased some fabric that matched our color scheme and sewed some pockets to add to the tent ends. I just added velcro so I could tuck them around the metal tent bars to attach them. This is great for sticking our glasses, cell phones and such in.
A bathroom storage bin meant for shampoo and stuff (Dollarama)just suction cups to the wall above the trailer door. Great to stick keys in, keep bug spray out of the kids reach)
This is what I have done to make my life easier. The catalog pictures make the trailers look so nice, tables set, cookbooks and flowerpots on counters. Not the reality of camping with a family that’s for sure. With some thought and planning though you can really work the space you have to its full potential!
I can’t find these “Soft Storage Compartment” items or for that matter none of the other accessories that are made specifically for a Starcraft Popup Camper. I did find the Prorac for the top. The website that show’s the accessories is a “dead site” and would appreciate any information on the availability anywhere would be appreciated.
Thanks!
