Stay Warm When Winter Camping- Heated Mattress Pad or Electric blanket?

Heated Mattress pad all the way!. When you use an electric blanket the heat rises- rises away from you and to top of the trailer… with mattress pad- heat rises up in air trapped in the blanket and keeps you toasty warm! So spend the extra money for heated mattress pad cover :)

Preparing Trailer for Winter: Checklist

-RV Anti Freeze in water lines. Don’t forget to pour a bit down the drain as well- and turn on ANY shower taps as well.
This process is explained step-by- step in Winterize Your Pop-Up Trailer

-Cover tires if outside- this protects the rubber from sun.

Remove/store battery and use a trickle charge to keep it “healthy” especially if you are using a deep cycle or RV battery.

-If you have a portable potty- take inside, this will also freeze.

-Make sure no food. shampoos, cleaners, etc left in trailer- will freeze and make a big mess. Food will attract critters.

Winterizing Pop-Up Trailer - Storing RV/Deep Cycle Battery over Winter months

I would remove the battery and bring into garage or inside. Set up with a trickle cell charger ( cost about 20-30 dollars, can buy pretty much anywhere, Walmart, Hardware stores, etc.)

You can also use a low amperage ( cheap) solar cell panel for your battery- as a TRICKLE charge only. Don’t expect this to “charge your battery for you..
